Currently our licensed estheticians are trained in intimate waxing for the labia/vulva anatomy, though not all of our estheticians offer body waxing. We fortunately can recommend and refer guests requiring waxing for the penis and scrotum to Metrowaxx, a locally owned business that offers all-anatomy intimate waxing on a frequent enough basis so as to be safe and proficient!
Unfortunately, estheticians in local programs received minimal, if any, training on intimate waxing in school. Most of our estheticians received no training in all-anatomy intimate waxing, those who did merely received a quick demo. Finding a hand's-on program or trainer to work with us for all-anatomy waxing has been difficult. The techniques required are different enough that ethically, without feeling comfortable and proficient to do a safe, quality service, our estheticians have to decline. Not only do we not want to give a subpar service, we don't want to face a liability or licensing issue because someone tried something they didn't know how to safely do. We know this is in contrast to our motto and we are working to rectify this in the future. Thank you for understanding!
This is tricky. Basically, regardless of gender, we cannot wax very coarse facial hair. There are a couple of reasons. First, this causes skin irritation that can lead to in-grown hairs, infections, and scarring. It could also be incredibly painful. Knowing this, an esthetician will use their best judgment and ethically, will need to decline a service they feel would harm someone. This is similar to estheticians being unable to perform a wax on someone taking certain medications or who has had too much sun exposure. We know that facial hair can also be challenging for trans women. The safest and most effective way to remove coarse facial hair is laser hair removal. Once the hair is thinner, either from laser hair removal treatments, or from hormonal changes and we feel we can safely help, we'd be more than happy to!
Another challenge that surprises people is that there are state laws and regulations about what hair licensed estheticians can and can't address. Beard hair is one of the areas estheticians can't address due to the limitations of their license in Iowa. It falls under the scope of barbering.
We know some people do it on TikTok just to get reactions, but that doesn't make it a good idea! Laser hair removal is the safe and effective way to go for coarse hair on the face!
We prefer to allow our expectant guests to relax on a table with the head tilted up futher than normal for comfort! Not all of our tables allow for this, so we need to make sure you are scheduled in the best treatment room for your needs. We also want to ensure in advance that we verify all of the products we're selecting are safe for pregnancy.
Sometimes a product with glycolic acid or retinol doesn't make much of a difference in a guest's sensitivity, but we've seen some very unwanted reactions from guests who forgot to mention products, were incorrectly using products, or didn't realize how potent their at-home products are. This is even more common with the popularity of influencer-promoted brands that cause thinning of the skin, especially when guests are using a product that isn't meant for their skin type. Over-the-counter medications can also cause reactions in facials or waxes, even if you've had several visits with no problems.
We've even seen guests who start taking a regular baby aspirin but don't think it is worth mentioning have adverse reactions from services like Hydrafacial. When guests take blood thinners, even baby aspirin, our providers know to reduce the suction on the Hydrafacial due to the increased risk of bruising or unwanted marks that can last awhile!
Even if it seems insignificant, please let your esthetician know the products and medications you take. If you can't remember the ingredients of products, you can always take photos of the back of the bottle and we can review them!
Facials and Hydrafacials are amazing, and we know they are an investment in our skin. You can get much better results and protect that investment by using professionally recommended skincare. In the long run, this can also save money as it takes the guesswork out of products so you don't have a drawer of barely-used products. The ingredients are higher quality and more concentrated as well, so if used as directed, they should last longer with more potency in a smaller amount.
We do not allow returns on skincare products. To make sure you're getting products that work for you, we are happy to help you test them out in-store to ensure that the feel and smell great to you, just ask! We can help you compare products side-by-side too. We can also patch test for sensitivities. We recommend that any time you try a new product you purchase the smaller size. Rhonda Allison has travel sizes that should last about a month, which is enough time to determine if it is working the way you'd hoped. We have small 1-2 use testers of some Farmhouse Fresh products as well. We can advise you on how often to use a product, which order to use products, and which products shouldn't be mixed together. We also keep a list of your past purchases and the products your esthetician recommended during your last facial, so don't hesitate to ask us to look up your account! When used as directed, we know guests will have a better result with their skincare.
Great question! Please wait at least 48 hours after Botox, this settles pretty quickly into the muscles so 48 hours is more than enough time. If you have gotten filler, wait two weeks. Fillers take longer to settle into the neuromuscular junction and it is not worth the risk.
