Our specialty is providing a welcoming space for our guests to receive their regular skin care, massage, and nail wellness services. We have a high volume of requests for medium to large group spa visits and struggle to accommodate groups over 4 in our schedule. We really shine when serving individuals or small groups of up to 3 people.
That said, if you have a group who loves East Village Spa and wants to experience it together, it never hurts to ask! Sometimes, the stars align and provider schedules, room and equipment availability lines up with a group booking request. We welcome you to complete the group booking inquiry if you have 4 or more in your group, and our Spa Director will reply within 24 weekday business hours to let you know if we can accommodate your request.
If members of your group are seeking a celebratory or "party" like atmosphere, we are going to fall short of their expectations. We don't have private areas for groups to bring in refreshments or catch up. You might want to try a larger nail salon or seek a spa with a private party room or common area amenities like locker-rooms or saunas.
We serve assorted hydrating hot and cold drinks. We don't permit alcohol at the spa to protect our therapists. Alcohol is a contraindication for massage, facials, and waxing and we must turn away guests who are intoxicated. We don't have space for groups to share snacks or a meal, but we're next door to Scenic Route Bakery and in the East Village with incredible food and drink options!
No. Instead of locker rooms, saunas, or hot tubs, our space is dedicated to our service rooms to allow more people to enjoy the high-demand wellness treatments, without raising prices to subsidize costly amenities. If you want a day to lounge in robes, saunas, and steam rooms, consider a great midwest resort spa like Kohler Waters Spa (

Yes, not everyone does every service, and not every room is equipped for every service. For example, someone with a massage license is only able to do massage and typically only does certain massages. We need to know in advance preferences like a therapist gender, or whether the service requires equipment. This ensures we have gifted providers prepared to create the best experience for you!
We don't have the capacity to offer massage off-site. We can make referrals to trusted colleagues if a regular guest is seeking massage at their company or event. It is illegal in Iowa for estheticians or nail technicians to provide services outside of a licensed salon unless there are extenuating circumstances (i.e. it is at a hospital or for someone who can't leave their home)
In order to ensure your visit is relaxing from start to finish, seamlessly, we require one form of payment for groups of 5 or more, with an automatic 20% gratuity. We also hold all appointments on one person's card. We encourage you to make arrangements with the leader of your group if you wish to split the costs before or after and we can print an itemized receipt for the group lead.
Some groups purchase gift cards in bulk for their team members (we're happy to add fun surprises for bulk purchases) Some companies also offer a half day PTO for people to use to schedule their individual spa visits. Employees really appreciate this thoughtful alternative to a big group spa day, especially the flexibility to relax around their own person and family schedule.
